PM Modi inaugurates new building of Afghan Parliament
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new building of Parliament in Afghanistan. It has been constructed by India at a cost of about 90 million US dollars. The Parliament building project, which was initially conceived at a cost of USD 45 million (Rs. 296 crore), was started by India in 2007 as a mark of friendship and cooperation to help rebuild war-torn Afghanistan. The complex was last estimated to cost Rs. 710 crore in 2008.Parliament building has a block named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In a short while from now, Mr Modi will address the members of Wolesi Jigra. Mr Modi will also have meetings with Chief Executive of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and former Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
