This is a cost saving, time saving step and would bring in more accountability in the system.Terming e-enablement of track management practices on IT platform a ‘revolutionary step, Mr. Prabhu said it will eliminate more than 1,00,000 manual record keeping registers and make this area of working almost paperless. All information will now be available 24×7 on web enabled Applications. SMS and E-mail alerts will be sent to all concerned, right from Jr. Engineer in field up to Railway Board. This will help to reduce our expenditure on track inspection and will help us to implement seventh pay commission, which is an ‘unbearable burden’ on us. The system had saved around Rs 1100 crores in just one zone. A TMS mobile application was also launched by the Minister, which would enable the track management system to be accessed by senior management and field officials on mobiles and tablets to view certain important exception reports.
