Thane Police Install Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine For Women Officers


A vending machine was installed that will dispense sanitary napkins for women personnel at the police headquarters in Thane. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Rashmi Karandikar launched the first-of-its-kind initiative. The machine manufactured by a government agency, was installed as a response to women's needs, and will now come to the aid of 1,300 women constables in the traffic division of the city commissionerate.

Thane's Joint Commissioner of Police Ashutosh Dumbre and Bollywood Actress Sonali Kulkarni were also present at the inauguration. Kulkarni said women should not feel ashamed of their periods and look at it as a curse. She also added how other public areas such as railway stations, schools, colleges, etc. should also get these vending machines installed.While she asked people to not consider mensuration as a taboo subject.
