Gujarat CM laid foundation stone of 800 MW Wanakbori power plant
Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel on October 18, 2015 laid the foundation stone of 800 mega watt super critical coal-based thermal power plant at Wanakbori in Kheda district yesterday.
This power plant will be set up by Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) at the total cost of 4465 crore rupees. The project is expected to be completed within next three years.
This will be the eighth power generation unit at existing Wanakbori thermal power plant. The project received its Environmental Clearance in 2014.
Each of the seven existing units at Wanakbori power plant is of 210 Mega Watt, while this new unit will be of 800 Mega Watt. This new unit will use super critical technology that will have very less emission and lesser fuel consumption.
