FIFA Women's World Cup: Carli Lloyd inspires USA win, third title
United States (US) won the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. It is overall third world cup title of US. In the World Cup final match played at Vancouver, Canada US defeated Japan by 5-2 goals score. US captain and skipper Carli Lloyd scored three goals. Lauren Holiday and Tobin Heath scored one goal each.
The United States, winners in 1991 and 1999, became the first nation to win the crown three times and avenged their loss to Japan on penalties in the 2011 final. Lloyd, 32, scored her first goal after just three minutes on the pitch at Vancouver`s BC Place Stadium with the second coming two minutes later, and her third after 16 minutes. And just two minutes later Lloyd completed her hattrick with a stunning shot from 50 yards over the head of a stunned Ayumi Kaihori in the Japan goal.
